Timeline

Detailed Changes

MIP-16 completed the process of placing nearly all populated areas of the world into Regions.

In the early days of the Hivemapper Network, not all areas of the world were placed into Regions. This led to a "cherry-picked" view of Global Map Progress. With the implementation of MIP-16, nearly all populated areas of the world were placed into Regions, bringing the total to 2,722.

The exceptions were China, Russia and North Korea, which were not placed into Regions in order to reinforce that map contributors have an obligation to understand local laws regarding map data collection and should avoid taking any actions that would put their personal safety and security at risk.
