Start Driving and Mapping
You’re in the driver’s seat. Now what?
How long does it take for the dashcam to start mapping?
Once initial set-up is complete, the Bee will start mapping automatically once it is powered on in your vehicle.
The Bee may take a moment to acquire a GPS lock. If you are in a location without a clear view of the sky (e.g. a parking garage, tunnel, or area with many tall buildings), the GPS lock may take a little longer.
For privacy concerns, you can set a privacy zone around your home or workplace to prevent recording within 100 meters. You can also adjust “trip trimming” in order to automatically prevent recording the first few kilometers of your drive. See the Privacy Settings menu in the Bee Maps app for complete details.
When can I map?
The Bee is designed to map both day and night. No need to worry about mapping hours; just power on your Bee and drive.
If it’s raining or snowing, focus on the road and the Bee will take care of the rest.
While the Bee is designed to map at night, it may be unable to map if there is not sufficient street lighting.
Where can I map?
You can take the Bee along for the ride everywhere you go.
The Bee can map anywhere in the world that Bee Maps is legally able to ship products.
LTE service is largely country/region dependent. If you will be taking your Bee abroad or across international borders, a separate LTE service plan may be required to utilize LTE features.
Does my phone need to be paired to the dashcam to map?
No! Once initial set-up of you Bee is complete, you should be able to map and upload* without connecting to the app. Just power up and go!
You may need to connect to the app occasionally to check your mount position, update the Bee’s firmware or change the connected wallet.
*Uploads are 100% passive when a SIM is installed and active. Other upload methods may require connecting to the Bee Maps app.
