Depending on which Bee Dashcam model you have, there are 3 options for you to upload your contributions: LTE, direct WiFi, or the Bee Maps app.
Uploading through LTE is one of the core features of the Bee LTE model. To do this, you will need an active physical nano SIM card that has data enabled. Below is our current list of supported carriers by region:
In order to enable LTE, you must have the Bee LTE model. The Bee WiFi only model is not compatible with LTE uploads. Interested in Bee LTE? Purchase one today.
Once you have an active SIM card, it’s time to authenticate:
While the dashcam is off, insert the SIM card into the designated SIM card slot.
Turn the Bee dashcam on.
Connect the app with the dashcam - leave it connected for 5-10 seconds.
If successful, a pop-up should appear stating “Now mapping with LTE”.
Reboot the dashcam.
The pop up notification will only appear once after the initial authentication.
The Bee Maps app can be used to upload mapping data captured by the Bee to the Hivemapper Network. When using this method, the Bee Maps app acts as an intermediary between your Bee device and the Hivemapper Network. A cellular data or Wi-Fi connection on your mobile device is required along with the Bee Maps app. To upload via the Bee Maps App:
Connect to your Bee’s Wi-Fi network using the Bee Maps App.
Once connected, any collected data will begin downloading from your Bee to your connected mobile device.
By default, the Bee Maps app uses Wi-Fi to upload to the Hivemapper Network. After you finish mapping and return to a trusted Wi-Fi network (like your home or office), the app begins automatically uploading the downloaded data to the Hivemapper Network in the background. You can still use all the features of your mobile phone while map data uploads.
Cellular uploads can be enabled by in the Bee Maps app Settings menu.
You can monitor download/upload progress from the progress bar at the top of the home screen or in the Settings menu.
Uploads are typically faster when the Bee Maps app is running in the foreground and either on the map tab or upload section.
It’s possible to enable cellular data uploads for contributors who want to upload outside of a Wi-Fi network or as they map. Go to the “Settings” tab and toggle “allow cellular data uploads” to on. This will upload contributions via cellular data without having to wait for a Wi-Fi connection.
